Doodaro pricing explained: plans, minutes and what a video really costs (2026)

What each Doodaro plan includes, what counts as a minute, how many videos 120 or 510 minutes buy, and how the ladder compares with Golpo.

Last checked

Doodaro has one price ladder and one unit: rendered minutes. This page explains what you get on each plan, what uses minutes and what does not, and how the numbers compare with Golpo, the closest competitor.

Prices below are the launch prices, checked on 2026-09-15. Paid plans are billed monthly in USD, and checkout runs through Polar, which acts as merchant of record. There are no yearly plans. The pricing page is the source of truth.

The four plans

Plan Price Minutes AI pictures, voices, story assistant
Free $0 2 welcome minutes, once No (upload your own)
Starter $39 / month 120 per month Yes
Creator $75 / month 240 per month Yes
Pro $149 / month 510 per month (480 + 30 bonus) Yes

Every plan, including Free, includes:

  • All 37 drawing styles, in color.
  • Landscape 16:9, portrait 9:16 and square 1:1.
  • Exploring the Doodaro templates.
  • Uploading your own pictures and narration.
  • MP4 exports with no watermark.

Paid plans add the parts that run on AI providers: generated scene pictures, the image generator for stills, narrator voices and the story assistant. They also add your own custom templates (a style saved from your reference images and instructions). Beyond that, plans differ only in how many minutes you get.

What counts as a minute

A minute is one minute of rendered, exported video. That is the whole rule.

During the beta, minute metering is not switched on yet, so exports do not use up your allowance today. The rules below are how minutes are counted once it is.

Uses minutes:

  • Exporting the full video from the Editor. A 5-minute export uses 5 minutes.
  • Exporting again after a change. Each export is a new render and counts again.

Does not use minutes:

  • Writing the script or using the story assistant.
  • Building scenes.
  • Generating or regenerating scene pictures and narration on the Storyboard.
  • Rendering a single-scene preview in the Editor.
  • Playing the storyboard preview.
  • Making stills with the image generator.

So you can draft, redraw and re-voice as much as you need, and only spend allowance when you press Export. The habit that saves the most minutes is simple: preview one scene at a time, fix everything on the Storyboard, and export once.

How many videos each plan buys

Video lengths vary, so here is the range for a typical 3-to-8-minute video. Numbers assume one export per video; add roughly 20 percent if you usually re-export once after a fix.

Plan Minutes 3-minute videos 5-minute videos 8-minute videos
Free 2 one 2-minute test
Starter 120 40 24 15
Creator 240 80 48 30
Pro 510 170 102 63

Cost per minute of finished video: Starter $0.33, Creator $0.31, Pro $0.29. A 5-minute video on Starter is about $1.63 of allowance.

Which plan fits which schedule

  • One video a week, 5 to 8 minutes: Starter. Four to five exports use 20 to 40 minutes, leaving room for re-exports and shorts.
  • Three videos a week, or a daily short plus a weekly long video: Creator.
  • Daily uploads, several channels, or client work: Pro.

If you are unsure, start on Starter. You can move up when you run out.

The Free plan

Free gives you 2 minutes once, not monthly. That is enough to take one short project all the way through Story, Storyboard, Editor and Export with your own pictures and narration, and see what the engine does with your style choice.

Every style and every format are open on Free, and you can upload your own pictures and narration. Generated pictures, narrator voices, the story assistant and your own custom templates need a paid plan. The point of the Free plan is to let you judge the output before paying, not to run a channel.

Reading your usage

Settings → Usage shows your allowance for the period and the minutes used so far. Remaining minutes are the allowance minus the length of every metered export, so once metering is on the number moves only when you export. Check it before a long export so you are not surprised, and check it at the end of the month to see whether your plan fits your cadence. If you finish most months with more than half your minutes unused, the plan below yours would do. If you run out before the last week, move up.

Upgrading, downgrading and canceling

  • You can create a free account first, no card needed, or buy a plan from the pricing page before you have an account. After payment you set a password and land in your workspace.
  • Plans are monthly. Upgrade or switch from Settings → Plans.
  • Settings → Billing shows your plan, its status and the renewal date. Manage billing opens the Polar customer portal, where you update your card, download invoices and cancel.
  • A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Monthly minutes do not roll over; there is no rollover today.
  • You keep every video, image and template you have made regardless of plan; you own them.

How the ladder compares with Golpo

Golpo is the most direct comparison because it also sells whiteboard video by the minute. Its figures below are from its pricing page on 2026-09-14.

Doodaro Golpo
Entry paid plan Starter, $39, 120 min Starter, $39.99, 20 min
Color Every plan Growth plan and up, $199.99
Vertical video Every plan Creator plan and up, $99.99
Your own narration Every plan Business plan, $499.99
Free trial 2 minutes, no watermark 1 minute, watermarked, not downloadable
Editing a video Fix one scene, export again (export counts) Each finalized edit costs the full video length again
Languages A dozen-plus 45+
API In beta, every account Business and Scale plans
Team seats Not yet Business and Scale plans

Per minute at the entry plan, Golpo Starter works out to about $2.00 and Doodaro Starter to about $0.33. Golpo’s larger plans get cheaper per minute ($1.33 on Growth, $1.25 on Scale) but still cost more than Doodaro Pro at $0.29.

Where Golpo is the better buy: you need 45+ narration languages or team seats for an L&D department. Doodaro does not have those today, and its API is still in beta.

Three examples

A faceless channel, one 6-minute video a week. Four exports a month is 24 minutes. Add one re-export for a fix, 30 minutes. Starter covers it four times over, so there is room for four vertical shorts a week too.

A teacher, one 4-minute lesson per class per week, five classes. Twenty exports a month is 80 minutes. Starter fits; Creator gives room for revisions.

A church, a sermon recap plus five daily devotionals a week. One 8-minute recap and five 1-minute shorts is 13 minutes a week, about 55 a month. Starter.

Things to know before you subscribe

  • Metering counts the exported length, so trimming a scene’s hold time from 4 seconds to 2 across 20 scenes saves 40 seconds of allowance per export.
  • Re-exporting after a small fix costs the full length. Batch your fixes on the Storyboard, then export once.
  • Higher image quality settings and top-ups are not part of the launch catalog; the plans above are what exists.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Doodaro cost per month?

Starter is $39 for 120 minutes, Creator is $75 for 240 minutes and Pro is $149 for 510 minutes (480 plus 30 bonus). The Free plan gives 2 welcome minutes once. These are the launch prices as of 2026-09-15, billed monthly in USD through Polar.

What counts as a minute in Doodaro?

Minutes are counted on rendered exports. Writing a script, building scenes, generating pictures and narration, and rendering scene previews in the editor do not use your allowance. Exporting a 5-minute video uses 5 minutes. During the beta, minute metering is not switched on, so exports do not use up your allowance yet.

Do I get color and vertical video on the cheapest plan?

Yes. Every plan, including Free, has all 37 styles in color, landscape 16:9, portrait 9:16 and square 1:1. Free lets you explore the Doodaro templates; paid plans add your own custom templates, AI pictures, voices and the story assistant, and a monthly allowance. No plan adds a watermark.

How many videos can I make on Starter?

120 minutes covers about 15 eight-minute videos or 40 three-minute videos a month, before re-exports. Most creators land between those numbers.

Is Doodaro cheaper than Golpo?

For the entry plans, yes. Doodaro Starter is $39 for 120 minutes in color. Golpo Starter is $39.99 for 20 minutes in black and white, English only, with a 2-minute cap per video. Figures checked 2026-09-14; check both pricing pages before buying.

Can I cancel Doodaro at any time?

Yes. Plans are monthly. Switch plans from Settings → Plans, and cancel from Settings → Billing → Manage billing. A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and you keep the videos you have made.
